Embellishment
Literally an embellishment unnecessarily added touch, an ornamental addition, a flourish, but in Australian local government parlance it is sometimes to used to describe an asset or improvement, especially within a park.
The term is used in the Queensland Department of Infrastructure & Planning's Standard Infrastructure Charges Schedule, and that may be the source of the usage.
Parks infrastructure listed as embellishments in the Standard Infrastructure Charges Schedule include:
- public amenities
- shade structures primary park purposes
- playgrounds, soft fall, safety fencing,
- bollards
- dog off-leash areas
- retaining walls
- access roads and on-site car parks
- footpaths and cycleways
- lighting
- drink bubblers and taps
- picnic tables
- beach showers
